This powerful verse reminds us that God’s way is the best way. As humans, our perspective is limited and our understanding is imperfect. But God sees and knows all things – the past, present, and future. The bible in Hebrews 13:8 says he is the same yesterday, today and for evermore. When we wholeheartedly trust in Him, relying not on our own logic but on His perfect wisdom, He will guide our paths and order our steps.
What does it mean to trust God with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding? It means humbly submitting our plans, dreams, desires, relationships and decisions to Him in prayer. This is seeking His will first rather than charging ahead with what we think is best. It requires an intimacy with God that allows His peace and discernment to reign over our thoughts and emotions when making choices.
As we practice trusting surrender to God each day, He changes our hearts and renews our minds to be more aligned with His truth. His divine vision becomes our vision. His priorities start to drive our schedule. The security and freedom we experience in following His lead is beyond what we could orchestrate for ourselves. Our jealous, impatient, selfish ways are transformed by His grace and Lordship from the inside out.
The promise of this verse is incredible – as we give God the reigns of our life, He directs our paths! He may lead us to places we never expected, use us in ways we never envisioned. But we can take joyful confidence in the fact that He guides us on the very best way…not always the easiest…but the path that will ultimately lead to the most blessing, fruitfulness, intimacy with Him and eternal reward. What freedom to walk in step with Him. HALLUEYAH!
Prayer for Today
Good morning Lord! Thank You for the gift of life and for this new day. I gladly surrender all my plans to You. Have Your way in my life today. Use me to make a difference in someone’s life. Guide me to speak words of hope and encouragement.
1: I welcome You into this day, Lord. “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24)
2: Give me opportunities to bless and serve others. “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” (1 Peter 4:10)
3: Guard my heart and mind in perfect peace. “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” (Isaiah 26:3)
4: Lead me to those who need hope and healing. “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3)
Prayer for Today
5: Anoint my words to uplift and encourage others. “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” (Ephesians 4:29)
6: Fill me with passion for Your Kingdom’s work. “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.” (Romans 12:11)
7: Direct me to invest my time wisely today. “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:15-16)
8: Protect me from temptation, impatience and laziness. “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13)
9: Open doors for divine appointments and conversations. “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ.” (Colossians 4:2-3)
10: Help me to stay focused on You and Your priorities. “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33)
